The man behind the bunny is getting a movie! Yes, I know it’s Easter but I’m not talking about THAT bunny.

Hugh Hefner, the man most recognisable in his velvety red smoking jacket robe, will finally get the silver screen biopic treatment, and it’ll be directed by Rush Hour and X-Men: The Last Stand director Brett Ratner

According to Deadline, Ratner’s Ratpac Entertainment company secured the rights to Hefner’s biopic and now Ratner has put himself in the director’s chair.

Hefner is confident having his story told by Ratner and his company, saying he was just waiting for the perfect creative partners to do a feature film on his life.

Hefner said “in recent years there has been plenty of interest and much conversation about doing a feature film based on my life. I have always believed that when the timing was truly right, the perfect creative partners would come together for this project. I believe we’ve found those partners in Brett Ratner and RatPac Entertainment. I’m very much looking forward to this collaboration.”

This isn’t the first time Hollywood have tried to adapt Hefner’s story, Oliver Stone once drafted up the concept with Robert Downey Junior and Hugh Jackman being considered for the role.

The currently untitled Hugh Hefner biopic is in the early stages of pre-production.
