The new distribution company The H Collective announced that development has officially begun on another xXx film following xXx: Return of Xander Cage which was revived on the big screen earlier this year.

The franchise had become dormant after 2005’s xXx: State of the Union starring Ice Cube, but after a 12 year hiatus it seems this extreme-sports hybrid franchise still has some fuel in the tank … or should I say “Diesel”

This year’s xXx: Return of Xander Cage didn’t blow up the box office in the States but it did gross almost 350 million dollars worldwide which is more than enough reason to move forward with a sequel. That’s a pretty sum considering it was made on an estimated 85 million dollar budget.

The latest instalment which was helmed by Disturbia director D.J. Caruso saw Vin Diesel reprise the role of Xander Cage alongside familiar faces Samuel L Jackson, Ice Cube and Australia’s own Ruby Rose and Toni Collette. No cast members have been officially set for the return, nor is it known if D.J. Caruso will jump back behind the camera.
