The Big Winners at the 2019 ARIAs

Bathurst, New South Wales, Australia / 99.3 B-Rock FM

In case you missed it, but the ARIA Awards were on last night and there were a couple of big winners we need to tell you about. First up, yes Tones and I had a massive night winning 4 awards including ‘Best Pop Release’, ‘Best Independent Release’, ‘Best Female Artist’ and ‘Breakthrough Artist’. Considering she’s gone from busking on the streets of Byron Bay to having a worldwide hit and multiple ARIAs in such a short amount of time is quite incredible.

The Teskey Brothers picked up ‘Best Group’ beating out some stiff competition and ‘Best Blues and Roots Album’ along with Sam Teskey picking up ‘Engineer of the Year’.

Amyl and the Sniffers won ‘Best Rock Album’, Northlane won ‘Best Hard Rock/Metal Album’, Sampa The Great won ‘Best Hip Hop Release’, national treasure Paul Kelly won ‘Best Adult Contemporary Album’ and Dean Lewis won ‘Best Male Artist’ and the big award of the night ‘Album of the Year’ for his debut album ‘A Place We Knew’.

There were a couple of favourites that missed out on awards but quite a few of them already have a few silver pointy statues in their collection anyway, so it was good to see a couple of first timers win an award.
